A. Modem Hijacking

We have received a few frustrated emails regarding a new criminal trend that has affected a number of Verizon customers: auto-dialer or modem hijacking. This involves the attaching of malicious software that allows the perpetrators to cause your computer to connect to the internet after you have disconnected. Later, they make a number of international phone calls and you get charged for it.

The people who we have spoken to us have commented about Verizon's stance which is that the customer is responsible regardless. Thanks to a number of complaints as well as getting the FBI involved, their stance has changed. They WILL drop the charges, however they are not informing their customers about this. What you will need to do is to tell them that you should fall under their company-wide amnesty program that covers this. If they refuse, please contact us and we will assist.

B.  Successful Suit/Moving Issue

Verizonpathetic has been contacted by an individual who successfully who sued VZ over an issue involving cancellation of service due to moving. Verizon inappropriately sent the account to collections, the customer paid it, but should have been refunded and was not. If you have a similar issue, please let us know and we will forward your information to him.

D.  Additional Forum

As many of you know from reading the posts on the site, Verizonpathetic is visited by a number of Verizon employees. One of those employees suggested that we open up another forum so that VZ staff can converse separately.

E.  CEO Contact Info

In our last newsletter, we managed to bring you the executive address of the Verizon CEO, Ivan Seidenberg. A former employee has now graciously given us his email addresses: Ivan.Seidenberg@verizon.com or Ivan.Seidenberg@core.verizon.com

Although impossible to fully corroborate, neither address bounces back which is certainly a very good sign to its validity.
