I asked how the technician would like to lose two days pay waiting for someone to come to fix a problem that he didn't cause. His response...he hung up on me.

DSL was canceled 4 times with Pacbell and Verizon has canceled the DSL order 3 times without me saying so. Never any credit is offered to appease the customer - you just have to keep on waiting for service. Funny how if you are late on your telephone bill a couple of days your phone service would be turned off - but they can keep on inconveniencing you and apologizing in vain. Every rep is trained to lie and must be a direct order from their Executive officials - Sons of B****** (it's all about the volume as a whole - leaving many people to keep calling back and following up on matters that are THEIR responsibilities). Still waiting for DSL modem and service to be turned on after 3 months! DOWN WITH THESE TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANY DECEIVERS!

Jun/13/01Brett Masters Santa Ana,CA When they were Airtouch cellular everyone in our region hated them. Even then their sucked service was better then now. (Oh, peak-1 on their bills means calls between 6-10, but I defy anyone to find that out on their website). They advertise $19.99/mo, but with all their taxes (some of which I don't even understand but blindly accept), you never pay close to that price. I say f%&k 'em.

Asked them why now, they said didn't have my address(sic) I am still their customer(or victim). Don't know what to do this is pure highway robbery. I had payed cash and can't find my receipt. They were going to disconnect my current service.

It's not alwyas our fault. You need to realize that Verizon Online is a consumer product and we it is not promised that we are %100 effiecient.

I often try calling my cell phone with a land line, and my cell phone does not ring. This isn't what I paid for. I am an attorney contemplating a lawsuit against Verizon. 5/30/01LanceHonolulu,HISomeone else using my line to dial up ISP. I tell Verizon it is sporadic. They try testing it after I hang up with them. Of course they say its okay. When the modem noise is on my line, I figure I should call them. I do, I use my cell phone to call them to ask them to try testing it then... Representative says "great I'll test the line and call you back" *click*. Well guess what? You can't call me back if my line is being used! I call back on my cell phone. He said he can't test the line because it isn't idle. No DUH!!! That's what I'm telling him the problem is!! The only suggestion they can come up with is sending a guy out to my house and checking the line there, but of course the problem is sporadic and the line will test fine. Morons.

Check your billing statement, you are being charged federal tax ON your state tax... they add the State tax to the toatl, then based your Federal tax on the total, this means you as a consumer are payint the companies Federal taxes for them... that's just the beginning...
5/23/01John Willmarth Meadville,PAThey upgraded my service -- so it cost more, but I didn't authorize, then wouldn't correct it. When I told them to delete me from their service, then they said I would own them $175, as I was cancelling before the end of my "contract," but I had been jerked around by these people since they took over from ALLTEL. I told them to stuff if because I had never signed up for a contract from them because I had completed my contract with ALLTEL and I was on a "month-to-month" basis. Glad to get away from those fools before I lost more money from their promised service upgrades that never happened. I could never use the thing where I traveled most, and they kept promising to put a tower up. Well the tower has been up for about a year, but it isn't working yet. I am sure glad that I didn't get into some of the messes that others have gotten into with this rotten company.

5/22/01HenrikJersey City,NJ I took 2 weeks to get my phoneline installed in my new apartment. After 1 day with the new line, I got disconnected for some f-cked up reason, and then it took them 4 days to fix it. The reason? They had installed another line over the first one (don't ask). After that I ordered DSL, and they couldn't tell me whether I could get it or not, cause my number "wasn't in their DSL database" yet. So I kept on calling every wednesday (they update their database once a week - brilliant!). And I kept on calling for 2 f-cking months, and they couldn't tell me, so I finally gave up. They called me back three weeks ago, and told me that my line was qualified for DSL, and I placed the order pronto. My activation date I got, was May 16 Do you think I got Verizon DSL connection May 16? No.....ofcourse not, so I called them, and the manager told me that the activation date was correct and the order I placed was correct, but it was not processed, due to computer failure (always blame the computer) They promised to call me back yesterday, but ofcourse they didn't, so I called them today and....well. They don't know S***! All the rep could say was...."We have to wait for two more weeks to process it" THEY SUCK!!
5/20/01TracyChesapeake,VAFeb 2001, called for DSL service. Waited 3 weeks before I called and found out I had to be a residential customer first. Took 4 weeks, 5 cancellations of my orders and numerous apologies before I got residential service. Ordered DSL service 5 days after residential service was connected. Now 3 weeks and 3 cancelled orders later I'm still waiting for DSL service. Now I'm told that after 2 months my residential service has not gone through the system, that's why I don't have DSL yet. Still waiting for someone to return my calls. Expect more apologies.

McCann Thorofare,N.J.Being in the Automotive business alot of my calls are to a local parts store...Most of my calls are under 1 minute...Why am i paying for "Message units" and being charged for 5 minutes of air time every time i make the connection rather than being charged for the actual time im on the phone..If i was to talk for 5 minutes and 10 seconds i get charged for a full ten minutes..If you came into my gas station and got $5.05 worth of fuel would you want to pay for $10.00 because your into the next 5...Its a rip off !!
5/10/01Damian Impett Spokane,waWell ever sence I wrote that nice not about qwest geting my DSL line up and running SO FAST, I have ever sence taken out my DSL line and added a second line for the internet (DSL was costing me to much and a second line is MUCH cheaper). I did have a little problem installing the second line but after being charged $85 for the repair that was not my falt (when the line to this building where put in some ass hole caused a short in the orange pair (we have 3 pairs of wire to each apt. = up to 3 phone lines per apt.) so I have to go blue pair = line 1 then green pair = line 2). but after the dust settled and stuff I still love my phone company called Q W E S T. I still hate verizon and have found ways to piss them off and they hate me and my other friend for doing what we are doing. for one I have my own radio station (a pirate station) and I BASH them all the time and a worker for the company that is HIGH UP THE LATTER has called me all the time to tell me to "stop bashing verizon" and I tell him "your in the wrong company dude and I'll keep bashing them tell they go out of bizness". and my friend does the SAME thing with his radio station. have a nice day all --Damian < /FONT >

5/7/01DSDavenport,FLVerizon opens a phone account in another city under my name and SSN. They allow the phone bill to reach $900. Then they open a second phone line AT THE SAME ADDRESS, again UNDER MY NAME, and allow that phone bill to reach $3500! Do they contact me? NO! They just throw it to a creditor who puts it on my credit report. Now Verizon says I either sign a fraud complaint saying I will press charges against whoever actually received the account, or I pay the bill. Where is their responsibility? They provide TWO phone lines, allow the back bills to reach over $4000 and then it is MY FAULT? Verizon sucks. Now I have credit card companies raising interest rates and lowering credit limits thanks to Verizon.

Apr/27/01GlennOrangevale,CAStared a GTE contract 1/00. By 8/00 (during Merger) my 2180 Nokia phone stopped working with out notice. I had to upgrade the phone, I did, and at the same time was told I had to sing a one year contract. I did, thinking one year from new date . What they didn't tell me was that it was for an ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR ON TOP OF THE ONE NOT COMPLETE. All becasue they change theri system, screweing up MY PHONE THEY SOLD ME IN THE FIRST PLACE. Today after serveral calls to many obnoxious individual, they would not offer any compensation/help. So my contract is now past my orginal end date by 4 months, with 4 months to go if you start from my HARDWARE RENEWAL BECAUSE OF VERIZON's SCREW UP. Also now stuck with the crooks until 1/01. Terminating everything ....... bye bye, now I tell my friends and everyone else

Used to get 505kbs Download 81kbs Upload using speedtest at www.dslreports.com Now get 38 Down/78 UP.. Spent my Friday night on support line - no help - Can't even run speedtest on Verizon site.. It times out... Not sure of next move.. Not Happy again.. At least I had 1 good month !!!
Apr/20/01Angela Erwin - Peal Hurricane ,WV I moved into an old farm house about a month ago. The tele. lines were so old, I had to have Verizon come in and rewire everything and replace two old jacks. Everything was fine. I have two seperate jacks, one for my telephone and the other for my computer modem. This week, my telephone lines were dead and of course, I called Verizon repair. A few hours later, impressed with same day service, a tech. shows up at my house. After testing my line and both my new jacks, he tells me that my computer modem was defective and was not disconnecting from my phone line. Thus causing my line to act as if my phone was just left off the hook. I was devestated that my 1 yr. old computer had a bad modem. I packed it up to send off for repair and a new modem. But just out of curiosity, and thank goodness I did, I ran a long telephone cord from the good jack to my computer. My modem is working fine. I came very close to spending a large amount of money for nothing. Another tech came the next day and was very surprised that the first tech. told me that my computer modem was bad. But I told him that I wasn't surprised at all.

Apr/18/01MarcieMiamisburg,OHMy nightmare began back in Oct. when I seperated two phones from the same bill. I was told that I had a mobile to mobile feature but when my bill came M to M was not on it. I called and they corrected my bill. The next month the same problem. I called they corrected. Next month same but when I called they said your plan doesn't offer the M to M. When I asked them what I could do the CR said nothing. I did not have the money to pay the bill and was not offered the chance to switch plans or increase my minutes. So of course now they want the entire amount because I should have known that it would not be changed. How can it be okay to let me think for 2 months it was okay and then change the game plan and not attempt to do anything to help me correct it? The Customer "care" rep said I could make payments. I told her I thought they could reduce the amount since some of this was their fault and she said the account was frozen and she could do nothing. As far as I am concerned Verizon is a rip off artist with hidden charges and confusing bills and CR's who don't know their bu-- from a whole in the ground.

Verizon then randomly started billing my service to another phone number for my service, while canceling my password. Now they want me to "prove" to them that I've paid the last 3 months service -- 1 month of which i did pay, and 2 of which i never received. The shakedown is astonishing.

So he couldn't do anything and left. Anyhow I set up and appointment one week later... No one showed up. I was home from 8am through 6pm. No one ever showed up. When I called them, they said that they were willing to help me by sending another technitial one week later, which required me to stay at home 8 am through 8pm... I'm sorry,but Verizon must not exit...

Filed complaint with PSC. Meantime, moving to Earthlink (hopefully)

Apr/9/01IvanSanta Barbara,CA I had DSL with Verizon for a year and wanted to switch ISP. Verizon told me to cancel and reorder through the new ISP. I did and have been denied service ever since. Now they say my line does not qualify. How can that be ? It worked fine for a year. Needless, to say I can't wait to get Cable service.
Apr/9/01EricBayonne,NJVerizon's over-all service was fine for about 3 months. The e-mail server is horrible. I have to use Yahoo e-mail. E-mail is a part of our internet service and Verizon needs to reduce the monthly rates if they can't get things going. I am a technical support director. I can tell you, Verizon's TS dept. is clueless.

Apr/2/01JenniferLoveland,COUnbelievable. Signed up in Oct. Got screwed immediately. Double billed, phones don't work. Was told that the "cold, dry Colorado air" impedes the signal. So, for weeks our phones didn't ring. Now we might get 1 call in 10, and our messages either never arrive or are days late. (Every 20 minutes, my ass!) All calls to customer service end up in an argument with them telling us its our fault. Was actually told today by a supervisor that "Verizon is not liable for faulty devices. It's not our problem if your phones don't work." Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Report to BBB, FCC, Attorney General, ANYONE...EVERYONE!!

To bad for verizon I am friends with the Attorney Genral. I will be the first to admit that customer service anywhere these days SUCKS!! but I never imagined one that was this much of a discrace.
Mar/26/01JanBrooklyn,NYJust canceled my Verizon DSL service and signed up with earthlink. Verizon's service is abyssmal. Their tech support staff are little more than "script drones" and their customer service is virtually nonexistant. Problems have included dropped connections, consecutive days without service, delayed (or even lost) e-mail and customer service holds of 45 minutes or more. It would only be fitting if the current pending class-action lawsuits against Verizon bankrupts them.

Do what I did after 3 months, I called the Co-CEO at home...I know, I cant beleive it was listed either. But, it was fixed very quickly after that. Mar/21/01ChipsNew York City,NY It took 5 months for my DSL service to be activated when I was told that it would only take 1. Horrible tech support staff. They are complete idiots. Every time I call their support staff, I speak with rude and clueless reps. They constantly try to dodge my questions/concerns and frequently put me on hold for long periods of time. I really don't understand what is going on with this company. I can only guess that management is sub-sub par in this corporation, and it shows in the quality of their staff. Management controls the mood, quality, happiness, order, etc. of their "drones", which is why I hold these overpaid and underqualified managers accountable for my difficulties with their staff and my DSL service.

Call to "customer service" - answer: we're not billing you twice. My credit card finally expires and I re-up my account. Paper bill from old account arrives a week later. Called customer support: answer - OK we were double billing you but it was your fault - no credit back..
Mar/21/01Mike O'Shea Tacoma,WAAfter call to verizon "customer support", tech asked me dial 1-800 number to test. For two months afterward, I was billed at $6/hr 1-800 rate even though I was using the local dial-in number. My checking account was billed over $600!! I was forced to e-mail my problem - answer: not happening and no person would handle further escalation - asked to keep sending e-mail!! Cancelled account since Verizon couldn't explain problem and wouldn't fix or credit back the overcharges.

When my year is up I am going to subscribe to a better DSL service. Warning do not use Verizon DSL...Perhaps in a few years they will get better, but now, Yuck!!!!!

I have been an employee for 25 yrs, It gets worse and worse everyday.Mgrment people with no experince.No test bureau what so ever, improper tools equipment or none at all to test adsl and isdn circuits.The bottom line is to make money, screw the subsciber, and pay Ivan Siedenberg $30 million a year.

Call number 46 Verizon promises 3 green lights in 7 days. 2 weeks later called tech support they claimed the line would not support DSL. Why not fully test the line before promising DSL which they cannot provide? What a waste of time.

Mar/12/01JacQueline Smith Keypor,NJPhone service is not good. Last week the voice mail from weekend didn't reach me till monday morning. People call and claim I'm not home to answe, when I am there and I recieve no calls ahhhh what a mess thank God I have no buisness to depend on.
Mar/12/01JacQueline Smith Keyport,NJUseage of DSL has not been as pretty as the commercials paint. I'm learning a whole lot from all the problems that I encounter with DSL. One thing that still baffels me is how it appears that I'm connected, but I cant go to any websites without x-ing out and reconnecting to interent. Instant messengers one moment connected next disconnected. I'm not for sure if the problem is with DSL service or if it's the OLD phone lines. Just be prepared to get personal with verizon's tech support and learn to count to 100 to remain calm when waiting for the next level of tech help. 2 times I got lucky, I could tell the tech support dude actually was a pc user, not a manual reader, those 2 were the times I had the best of service.
Mar/9/01MikePalmdale,CAI'm lucky. 1st Verizon said I was able to get DSL - they sent me a modem etc, then they said that I may or may not be able to get it, then finally they said that I wasn't able to get it. I still have the modem though. Of course they tried to bill me for it. Thats GTE (the Great Telephone Experiment)/Verizon for you!

Mar/6/01David C. Foss Westwood,MAForced conversion of dialup from banet.net to verizon.net has failed at every turn. Reduction of service options (2nd mail accts) creating problems. I get one correct answer for each 10 phone cals or e-mails.

Mar/4/01Phoneguy202 @aol.comSyr,nyAll major Phone co. are governed by their respective states public service commissions.If you got your problems documented,you should be calling them.It costs them big bucks to get rapped by the commission, and if they can't correct the problem by the date the commission sets, the fine by the commission is doubled until the problem is corrected,and they notify them and in turn the commission recontacts you to see if all is ok and u are satisfied.If not the fine continues until u are, and the commissions contacts u ever so often.
Mar/2/01Telcom Employee somewhere in the ,CA Anyone receiving a bill for service and/or work not done. File a report with the Public Utilities commission. It will be handled in a timely manner. If you don't formally dispute the bill (PUC) then the telco can ruin your credit rating if it is not paid. If you dispute it formally no payments have to be made. Keep your money in the bank not in the telco's coffers.

Jersey City,NJ Back in October, they gave me a huge hassle just trying to set up a new phone line in 1 bedroom of my apartment that I share with roommates (I was switching bedrooms). It took at least a week longer than promised, and they did not care at all when I called to complain about the delays. They are incompetent and unprofessional to boot. Verizon sucks sucks sucks.

Feb/26/01John P. Leominster,MAI ordered DSL in January and was told it would be active Feb 21st. I tried to get it to work on the 24th. No go. Called Verizon and the tech said the work was still "in progress" but couldn't tell me why. Call this 800 number during normal business hours to find out why he says. Meanwhile he asks about the lights on the modem. I tell him which ones are on and which ones aren't. He replies, "is it plugged in?"!! Duh, if some of the lights are on, what do YOU think! So, Monday I call and go on hold for 45 minutes. Then I'm told that the CO in Leominster is over capacity. The EARLIEST I can get connected now is AUGUST 28th!! Of course Verizon didn't bother to tell me I was SOL! Turns out the person that signed me up didn't record my email address right (couldn't spell "usa", geesh). Still, they're the phone company. Couldn't they CALL me? So, why are they selling service they can't deliver?! Complete waste of my time.

Do their tech people ever have *any* record of my configuration? Does a day go by when there isn't a DSL outage? Have they ever gotten back to me after promising to? Have they even begun to straighten out their screwed up billing? No. No. No. No. No. Am I switching to TW cable modem? And *any* competitor's local service? Yes. Yes.
